Today I’m sharing a piece of mixed media art I attempted recently, featuring Matthew 19:6. It didn’t turn out exactly how I envisioned, but it did help me focus on the Truth, which ultimately is the point of my art.
Let’s chat!

Hi Kathleen! I Bible Journal. Yep, I draw and color pictures in my Bible. Growing up, we were taught to NEVER EVER draw or color in your Bible. You may highlight a passage or maybe underline something. It took me some time to get used to the idea, and to accept that making a mistake is “okay”. But it has been such a blessing to me! It has deepened my study and helped me remember where the verses are! I’ve shared many of my early Bible Journaling on my Instagram page, you have to look way back in the photos!
I have actually just started Bible journaling, myself. I bought an interleaved Bible last month and I am totally loving it. It is an exercise in character growth for me because there is no room for perfectionism. Once it is there, it is there. So that is an added bonus to being artistic in the actual Bible verses on separate pages. Also, I find it is growing my Bible study time because I am spending more time literally looking at God’s Word and handling it differently than I typically would. So I notice things I may not have noticed with a typical study method or daily reading time. I shared my first entry on my Facebook page and will probably share more in the future. 🙂
