Today I’m featuring, A Most Inconvenient Marriage by Regina Jennings. This book made my list of the Top Ten Historical Romance Novels I read in 2016.
Here’s the first line:
February 1865
Gratiot Street Prison
St. Louis, Missouri“First, you’re going to write a good-bye letter to my sweetheart, and then you’re going to marry me.”
Talk about an attention grabber! This book made my list for a reason. If you haven’t read it already, I highly recommend it.
Now it’s your turn! Grab the book nearest to you and leave a comment with the first line!

I really enjoyed that one!
My first line today comes from Karen Sargent’s ‘Waiting For Butterflies’:
“Maggie heard the key in the front door and looked at the clock on the nightstand: 1:48 a.m. Nearly twenty four hours had passed since the phone had jarred her awake and Sam out of bed.”
It really is a great book! I just finished reading the second one which is just as fun and the characters from the first book make fun appearances. Thanks for sharing!
Good morning. 🙂 My first lines comes from Chapter 2, “This Rough Magic,” by Mary Stewart.
“The bay was small and sheltered, a sickle of pure white sand holding back the aquamarine sea, and held in its turn by the towering backdrop of cliff and pine and golden-green trees.”
Enjoy!
Truly picturesque! Makes me want to visit. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
Five minutes earlier…
THERE IS A MOMENT, JUST BEFORE EVERY STORM, when the entire world pauses.
Siren’s Fury by Mary Weber
Happy Friday and Happy Reading
Nice. Makes me wonder if the start of the book is in the midst of such a pause. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
I’ve read the second in that series. Regina’s books are such fun!
I just finished reading the second book as well and I’ll be posting a review for it in a few weeks. Right now I’m reading faster than I can get posts up! LOL
That’s my constant problem, reading always out weighs reviewing and blogging. Reading is like breathing, the others take effort 😉
Love Regina’s books!
She’s one of my favorite authors, too.
This book is on my Kindle waiting to be read. 🙂 I also have the second and the third book in the series…so much to read. I need more time. 🙂
Yup. Book 3 is on my must read list for this year. 🙂
Another author I need to try out. That first line, though!!! Love it!
This is on my TBR! Lol! Looks so good!
I’d love to hear what you think after you’ve read it! 🙂
