Whether you’re looking for a good book or just curious what others are reading, you’ve come to the right place. Each Friday I pick a book and share the first line with you. This week I am sharing the first line from A Rose Blooms Twice by Vikki Kestell.
Here’s the first line:
Rose glanced up and saw James watching her.
I have not read anything by this author. I discovered this book on another book blogger’s website, but I’m sorry to say it has been sitting on my To Be Read list so long I’ve forgotten which site it was. I added it to my list because of the rave reviews and the deep topics which reviewers said it addressed. At long last, it looks like I’ll get to read this book in the coming week. It’ll be interesting to see if I enjoy it as much as others have.
Now it’s your turn! Grab the book nearest to you and leave a comment with the first (or your favorite) line!
Then head on over and share your first line with these friends:

I’m featuring the first line from J. Rodes’ “Charging the Darkness” on my blog today–great conclusion to her dystopian trilogy–but right now I’m going to share the opening of Rachel Dylan’s recent release, “Deadly Proof”:
“You can’t call that a settlement offer.” Kate Sullivan looked directly into the dark eyes of her opposing counsel, who represented a medical device company.
Have a great weekend!
Sounds like Kate has some backbone! Thanks for sharing! 🙂
Oh my word! It’s first line Friday. I’ve had a broken wrist and was unable to participate for awhile, but the cast is gone and here I am!!! 🙂
“The Black Tower of Dunnoch.” This first line is from, “The Master of Blacktower,” by Barbara Michaels. The publication date is 1966. I had never heard of this author, but I discovered her book in a stack of used books at a gift shop and decided to buy it and read her Gothic novel. It’s good. Happy Reading ! 🙂
Oh, I love discovering old books that are new to me! This year I discovered Out of the Silent Planet by C.S. Lewis and absolutely loved it. Thanks for sharing!
That does sound like an interesting book. I’ll have to look for it!
I’m currently reading The Keeper of Her Heart by Stacy Henrie
“It is not proper, Ada. And I will not abide it any longer”
Yes. I love proper era dialogue. (Aren’t I punny? 😉 )Thanks for sharing! 🙂
😊
I think I have read that book, a long time ago. If I remember correctly, I liked it. I hope you enjoy it.
I’m sharing from a Barbour Collection today.
How dare the stars still light the night and the James River continue to flow, when the one who made Lettie’s life bearable was gone?
This is the first line from chapter 1 (not the prologue) of Carrie Fancett Pagels novella “Love’s Escape” in The Captive Brides Collection.
I just read that collection last month. Thanks for sharing!
I love discovering new books! 🙂
Me too! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
Happy Friday!
Mrs. Pollifax had attended church that Sunday morning, and her hat-a garden of pale pink roses and green leaves-still sat on her head as she ate lunch in the sunny kitchen of her apartment. – The Amazing Mrs. Pollifax (Book 2) by Dorothy Gilman
That sounds like quite a hat. 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
Sorry I’m a day late! Hope you have a great weekend!
No worries! Enjoy your weekend! 🙂
My first line is : from an Inconvenient Beauty by Kristi Ann Hunter.
The line between boy and man was never murkier than when a father died too soo. Leaving his son to walk through the foibles of youth while shouldering the responsibilities of adulthood.
I think I have Vikki Kestell on my kindle, too!
Oooh. I was just considering purchasing that book yesterday. Have you finished reading it? How do you like it?
