Welcome to First Line Fridays! The day we grab the book closest to us and share the first line. Join the fun and discover your next read!
Today I’m sharing the first line from Vying for the Viscount by Kristi Ann Hunter, which just released!
Here is the first line:
Madras, India
March 1817
There were many things Hudson thought he should feel, given that this was the moment he’d anticipated and prepared for his entire life, but instead of satisfaction, excitement or even fear, all he felt was ready.
For Hudson, the newly titled Viscount Stildon, moving to England from India where he was born and raised was already an arduous enough endeavor. When he learns the fate of the racing empire he inherited along with his title depends upon him getting in the good graces of another stable owner, he’s even more at a loss.
The stable at the neighboring estate has been Miss Bianca Snowley’s refuge for years, and when a strange man appears to be stealing the horses, she jumps to their protection without a second thought. Upon learning Hudson is actually the new owner, she can’t help but be intrigued by the area’s newest eligible bachelor.

Happy Friday! I love that first line!!
My first lines come from The Summer House by Lauren K Denton……
T he morning Worth left, something pulled Lily from her sleep, though at first glance nothing seemed out of place. The light coming through the bedroom window was soft and hazy. Above her the ceiling fan ticked and swayed, and outside a lone bird sang, trying to rouse its friends. Everything else was still and quiet.
Have an awesome weekend and happy reading!📚💜
I’ve never been disappointed by a Kristi Ann Hunter book! I’m sharing the first line from Finding Love for the Workaholic by Laurie Larsen on my blog today. “Isabelle Harmon drew in a lungful of air.”
Happy Friday! On my blog I’m sharing from a non-fiction text called Just Show Up by Kara Tippetts and Jill Lynn Buteyn. I’m just beginning chapter 3 so I’ll share a line from there.
“Years ago, the pastor who baptized our daughter was diagnosed with ALS.”
Hope you have a great weekend! 🙂❤📚
Happy Friday!
Over on my blog I shared The Fifth Avenue Story Society by Rachel Hauck
“Well this was a fine mess. Spending the night in Central Booking for instigating a fight at a wedding reception.”

Have a lovely weekend!💕
Great book from Kristi!
My first line is from The Haunting At Bonaventure Circus by Jaime Jo Wright:
Life was not unlike the wisp of fog that curled around the base of a grave marker, softly caressing the marble before dissolving into the violet shadow of the night.
