Whether you’re looking for a good book or just curious what others are reading, you’ve come to the right place. Each Friday I pick a book and share the first line with you. This week I am sharing the first line from Never Forget by Jody Hedlund.
Here’s the first line:
Rose Island Lighthouse, Rhode Island
June 1880
“I’m warning you, girl,” Zeke Crawford called from his dory.
This is the second book I have read by Jody Hedlund. (The first having been The Preacher’s Bride.) Although this is the 5th book in the Beacons of Hope Series, I have not read any previous books in this series and so can honestly attest that it may indeed be read as a stand alone book. That said, I have just added the previous four books to my TBR (to be read list)!
Now it’s your turn! Grab the book nearest to you and leave a comment with the first (or your favorite) line!
Then head on over and share your first line with these friends:

Great first line! I love Jody’s books but I haven’t read this one yet. 🙂
Here is mine:
“I never meant for any of it to happen.”
The Last Summer by Brandy Bruce
I like that first line. 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
Happy Friday Kathleen! Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
That first line will grabs your attention! I love Jody’s books. I haven’t read this series yet. 😉

This is for them. This is for the magic. This is for every little dreamer in the room. A Season to Dance – Patricia Beal
It does, doesn’t it?
Interesting opening. Thanks for sharing.
I really enjoy books by Jody Hedlund! I haven’t yet read this one, but I do have it on my kindle ready to go if I ever get caught up with a few others first.
Hope you heave a wonderful weekend!
Jody Hedlund is definitely on my list of trusted authors now. Thanks for stopping by!
I love that you can read it as a stand alone book, and I love the front cover. Vintage clothing is so pretty. 🙂 Happy Friday!
Yes. There isn’t always time to start at the beginning of a series (although I love those, too). So I do appreciate that this one stood on its own. Thanks for stopping by!
I really enjoyed this book. Happy Friday!
Lovely cover!
Now that I have a bookshelf within reach of my desk, I’m grabbing one I hope to read this year.
“Romulus White stood motionless in the crowded ballroom, staring at a woman he’d once longed for more than his next breath of air.”
– From this Moment, by Elizabeth Camden
Great first line – and a beautiful cover.
I’m currently reading My Unexpected Hope by Tammy L Gray, which has a great first line:
Moonlight leaked through the dirt-splotched windows of Joe’s Bar, it’s silvery rays glinting off the tumbler in front of Laila Richardson’s saddest customer.
I’m sharing the first line from The Space Between Words on my website. I hope you stop by and check it out.
Oh I loved this book!
