Hi Everyone! It’s First Line Friday, so grab a book near you and share your first line in the comments below!
Today I’m sharing the first line fromย The Bride Bargain by Kelly Eileen Hake. It’s a book that sat on my TBR for too long, but I finally got a chance to read it recently and enjoyed it.
Here is the first line:
Nebraska Territory, Oregon Tail, two weeks journey past Fort Laramie, 1855
“That does it!”
When Clara Fields and her aunt are kicked off their wagon train, a store owner in Buttonwood offers a chance at redemption. Desperate, she agrees to find a bride for the manโs sonโa stalwart bachelor. Will Claraโs faith and wits help her wrangle a resolution toย The Bride Bargain?

Well, that’s a great opening line :).
Here’s the first line from Elizabeth Goddard’s “Stormy Haven,” a Love Inspired Suspense book.
“Only three more miles…”
Have a wonderful weekend!
That sounds like a marathon runner or a distance bike rider. I don’t think anyone else would have “only” in front of “three more miles.” LOL Thanks for sharing! ๐
Happy Friday!๐
My first lines come from a book I’m reading shortly, Living in Harmony by Mary Ellis.
The rainโs finally stopped. Weโre late. Iโd better get you home before your father comes looking for us carrying his squirrel rifleโthunderstorm or no.โ
โHmm,โ replied Amy. Johnโs attempt at humor fell short of its mark.
Have a relaxing weekend and happy reading!๐
Thanks for sharing! ๐
I love books set in the west like this–reminds me of Love Comes Softly and Little House on the Prairie. ๐ Happy reading Kathleen!
It was a fun read. Thanks for stopping by! ๐
I read this one a few years back. It was a good read. The book I’m sharing on my blog is “His Bluestocking Bride” by Sally Britton. Here, I will share the first line from Chapter 17. “Tucked up in her favorite chair by the library fire, Ellen turned the page in an interesting volume on the subject of astronomy.” May you be able to fully enjoy your weekend!
I love bluestocking heroines! The heroine in one of the books I’m writing now would definitely be considered a bluestocking, but she has so many other unusual qualities, I doubt anyone would bother with that particular label. LOL Thanks for sharing! ๐
Sounds like a fun read!
Iโm sharing from Formula of Deception by Carrie Stuart Parks on my blog. It’s a standalone thriller, not part of her Gwen Marcey series, and it’s set in Alaska – always a great start! I don’t have a line to share here because I’ve been editing this week, not reading, and the first line might change. I’ll be sharing it just as soon as I get permission from the author ๐
Sounds like you’ve had a busy week. Thank you for taking the time to stop by! ๐
My first line comes from The Choice by Robert Whitlow,,,
Rutland, Georgia, 1974
Sandy Lincoln nervously twirled her long blond hair around her index finger.
Happy Friday and happy reading!
I think hair was the original fidget “toy.” LOL Thanks for sharing!
I haven’t read much set during this time period, but this one sound interesting. See what I’m featuring at Girl Who Reads
Oh wow. The nineteenth century is my favorite time period (probably obvious from my reading list). Which time periods do you prefer? I’ll definitely stop by your site to see what you’re featuring. Thanks for stopping by! ๐
Iโm sharing lines from A.L. Jacksonโs upcoming release More of You on my blog today. Itโs a second chance romance.
Here, Iโll be sharing lines from My Kinda Forever by Lacey Black.
โItโs a Summer sister tradition that on the first Saturday of each month, the six of us get together.ย We take turns picking the location or activity, anything from margaritas and a movie to wine and painting classes at the small uptown gallery.ย One thing, though, is as certain as the sun rising over the Chesapeake Bay every morning: there will be alcoholย involved. โ
Happy Reading!
Thanks for sharing! ๐
That sounds like a fun read! I’m featuring my newest book by a favorite author, Early Riser by Jasper Fforde. I flipped a bit forward to page 15, so I could share a line:
“There was an intake of breath. It was the mission statement of the Campaign for Real Sleep, sort of a rallying cry.”
Happy Friday!
“The Campaign for Real Sleep,” huh? Sounds like my kinda campaign. I could use some of that right about now. LOL Thanks for sharing!
The book I shared this week on my blog is A Changed Agent by Tracey J Lyons. Shockingly I’m not reading a book right now because I finished one last night and was gone all day today. This won’t be a reading weekend for me but I’m enjoying a busy weekend with friends and family. Hope you have a great weekend!
That IS shocking! ๐ Well, I suppose it is acceptable to spend time with people you can actually see every now and then. ๐ Thanks for stopping by!
Happy Saturday! ๐
Yesterday on my blog, I shared the first few lines from Monstrous Beauty by Carol E. Keen. I’m just really getting into the book, so I’ll share another line from that book here:
“Tucking an errant group of hair behind her ear, Annabelle Giles planned out her morning.”
Hope you have a great weekend filled with excellent reading time! ๐๐
You know what they says about the best laid plans … ha ha. Thanks for sharing! ๐
