Welcome to First Line Fridays! The day we grab the book closest to us and share the first line. Join the fun and discover your next read!
Today I’m sharing the first line from Above the Fold, by Rachel Scott McDaniel. As of this posting it is on sale at Amazon for only $3.99!! (Be sure to check the price before you purchase)
Here is the first line:
March 10, 1922
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Soot-stained windows filtered the morning light, casting an ashen shadow on the crowded courtroom and darkening the sting of judgment.
After losing the love of her life to a big city journalism job, Elissa Tillman pours herself into the suffragette movement and her secretarial work helping keep her father’s Pittsburgh newspaper afloat.
Cole Parker returns to the steel city with the phantom failures of his past nipping his heels. All he asks of the future is a second chance with the woman he once spurned.
The murder of a millionaire offers the perfect chance for Elissa to prove to her father and the world that she’s a serious journalist. But there’s a catch—she has to compete for the story. Against none other than Cole Parker, the very man who shattered her heart.

Brooke Sherman scanned her notes as passengers got on and off the Metro.- A Change of Fortune by Traci Hunter Abramson
Pilgrims Progress by John Bunyon.
WOW, Pittsburgh PA. I am about 30+ miles away from there.
Actually I have two favorite books and they’re both series. The first one is the Chronicles of Narnia series by C.S. Lewis and the second is Hillcrest Witch Cozy Mystery series by Amorette Anderson
Thanks for sharing! 🙂
