Hi Everyone! It’s First Line Friday, so grab a book near you and share your first line in the comments below!
Today I’m sharing the first line from a recently released book by one of my favorite authors, More Than Meets the Eye by Karen Witemeyer.
Here is the first line:
1879 Fannin County, TX
“Don’t lose heart children.
Many consider Evangeline Hamilton cursed. Orphaned at a young age and possessing a pair of mismatched eyes–one bright blue, the other dark brown–Eva has fought to find her way in a world that constantly rejects her. Yet the support of even one person can help overcome the world’s judgments, and Eva has two–Seth and Zach, two former orphans she now counts as brothers.
Seeking justice against the man who stole his birthright and destroyed his family, Logan Fowler arrives in 1880s Pecan Gap, Texas, to confront Zach Hamilton, the hardened criminal responsible for his father’s death. Only instead of finding a solitary ruthless gambler, he discovers a man not much older than himself with an unusual family. When Zach’s sister, Evangeline, insists on dousing Logan with sunshine every time their paths cross, Logan finds his quest completely derailed. Who isΒ trulyΒ responsible forΒ his lost legacy, andΒ willΒ restoringΒ the pastΒ satisfyΒ if it meansΒ forfeiting a future withΒ Evangeline?

I really enjoyed reading More Than Meets the Eye!! π
Today, I’m sharing the first line from River to Redemption by Ann H. Gabhart over on my blog, so I’ll share with you here the first line from chapter 12 of the same book.
“In the years she’d been with Ruth, Adria had brought home plenty of strays.”
Have a wonderful weekend!
Hmm. I wonder if those strays are of the two or four-legged variety.
Thanks for sharing!
Happy Friday!π
My First Line Fridays comes from a book I’m planning on reading very soon, Shelter In Place by Nora Roberts.
On Friday, July 22, 2005, Simone Knox ordered a large Fanta – orange – to go with her popcorn and Swedish Fish. The choice, her standard night at the movies fare, changed her life, and very likely saved it. Still, she’d never drink Fanta again.
Have a great weekend and happy reading!πππ
Wow. That is some drink! Color me intrigued.
Thanks for sharing!
Happy Friday!
I’m really looking forward to reading this book soon!
Iβm reading The Dear Reader by Mary O’Connell right now, so hereβs the first line: βMiss Sweeney disappeared on the first day of March, an icy Thursday morning of gloves and boots and veneers of diamondy frost on the windows of Sacred Heart High School.β
Hallie @ Book by Book

Happy Friday! My first line is from La Risposta: The Answer (A Tuscan Legacy book 9) by Autumn Macarthur:
Prologue: βInstead of returning to her vegetable garden, Teresa Pellegrini rushed into the farmhouse.β
Hmm. What’s her hurry?
Thanks for sharing! π

Karen is one of my favorites! I’m planning to read this one soon.
I’m sharing from a book that will be out early next month (I won an uncorrected proof on GoodReads) on my blog today, The Daisy Children by Sofia Grant, so here is the second line:
“It wasn’t the fault of the trousers, of course, but it was tempting to blame them nonetheless.”
Happy Reading!
