Welcome to First Line Fridays! The day we grab the book closest to us and share the first line. Join the fun and discover your next read!
Today I’m featuring, a novel I recently listened to on Audible, An Arrangement of Sorts by Rebecca Connolly. This novel is aΒ hilarious, romantic adventure, unlike anything I’ve read before. Entirely enchanting. This may have been my first book by Rebecca Connolly, but it certainly won’t be my last. I can’t wait to read more by this author.
Here’s the first line:
Hampshire 1818
“I must confess, my lord, it was quite a shock to see you dressed like this today.”
He was intrigued…
Nathaniel Hammond, Earl of Beverton, is working to restore his new estate and aid his tenants. But everything changes when he meets the beautiful and mysterious Moira Dennison, a bold young woman who offers to hire him, unaware of his title, to help her find her fiancΓ©. Curious and unable to resist, Nathan accepts her offer, keeping his true identity a secret, never dreaming of what the future held for him.
She was desperate…
Moira is set on finding Charles now that she has come into her inheritance. With her new-found wealth and independence, she is determined to locate her betrothed so they may finally
marry. With Nathan as her guide, she feels confident in the path before her. But when their arrangement forces them closer together, she finds her chosen path may not be as clear
as she thought.

Glad to add to your TBR. π
I’m actually in the middle of reading Ever Faithful, now. π
Well they just grab your attention from the get go! Happy Friday!
That’s the idea. π Thanks for stopping by!
Sounds interesting!
Today on my blog I shared the first line from The pink Bonnet by Liz Tolsma but I’m currently reading Britfield & the Lost Crown by C.R. Stewart so I’ll share the first line from my current chapter (13) here: “Thirty minutes later, Tom and Sarah enjoyed a cup of hot chocolate, along with a tray of desserts including Bakewell tarts, Eccles cakes, treacle pudding and crΓ¨me brulee.” Sounds appetizing! Hope you have a great weekend! π
I hope you have eaten. Otherwise I foresee a trip to the kitchen while reading that chapter. π
The Peaceful Dove….writ by Cathy Native Placed on a limb of the tree, when the Creator sent the winged creation helping it in its maideen voyage.
Thanks for sharing!
This is the first I’ve heard of that book. Happy reading! Today I’m sharing the first line from The King’s Mercy by Lori Benton: “Alex MacKinnon roused to the press of wood beneath his cheek and an ominous churning in his gut.”

I can’t remember how I found it (I think it was to do with a blog giveaway I entered but didn’t win), but I am always glad to spread the news of a great read!
Happy Friday!
This sounds like an interesting Regency romance. I’ll have to add this to my extensive TBR pile.
This week, I’m featuring Colleen Coble’s The Lightkeeper’s Bride on my blog. I’m also reading A Whisper of Peace by Kim Vogel Sawyer set in 1898 Alaska. I’m going to share the opening line: “Not once in all of her twenty-one years had Lizzie Dawson seen a moose behind her cabin.”
Hope you have a nice weekend π
Well, if she lives in Alaska, that just doesn’t seem right. π
Thanks for sharing!
Happy readerly Friday! I’m reading a new book right now!
“Just let go. The breeze lifted Lane Kent’s auburn hair from the back of her neck.”
Living Lies by Natalie Walters
I’ve been hearing a lot about that book! Thanks for sharing!
Happy Friday!
On my blog I shared the first couple of lines from one of my current reads The Storm Crow by Kalyn Josephson. It’s an upcoming release by a debut author, a fantasy full of magic and conflict between warring kingdoms. I hope you give it a read when it comes out next month.
Here, though, let me share the first few lines from my other current read, Shadow of the Fox by Julie Kagawa.
“It was raining the day Suki came to the Palace of the Sun, and it was raining the night that she died.”
I hope you’re having a good Friday so far. Happy weekend and happy reading! π
I read this one and loved it! On my blog, I’m featuring A Chance at Forever by Melissa Jagears. Since it’s my current read, I will share the first line in Chapter Nine, which is where I left off: “You want me to cut all of this?” I hope your weekend is relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable!
That does sound like fun! I’m sharing from Karen Barnett’s Ever Faithful on my blog today. Here is the first line from Chapter 2:
“What have you done now?” Nate kept his voice low as he tightened his fingers around his kid brother’s collar and glanced down the rain-darkened Brooklyn alley.”
Happy Friday and have a great weekend!
My first line is from The Number of Love by Roseanna White:
London, England 1917
The numbers marched across the page in a glory all their own.
Fabulous book as expected.
