“Even if she hadn’t been the last person to walk through the turnstile at Warren Street tube station, Jack Barker would have noticed the tall, slender woman in the navy blue, thigh-length jacket with a matching pleated skirt short enough to reveal a well-turned ankle.” ~Maisie Dobbs by Jacqueline Winspear
I don’t know what has taken me so long to read the Maisie Dobbs series, but I love this first book. It’s so well written and Maisie is a wonderful character! Read and enjoy! 🙂
Hmm… “a well-turned ankle” and no stockings? Makes me wonder what era it is. 🙂 I’ll have to check it out. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
World War I
I bought When Love Calls back in August, and really need to read it!
My first line is from Joel C. Rosenberg’s new book Without Warning:
“I had never been in the Oval Office before.
But I’d always imagined my first time going differently.”
You really should. I had to restrain myself from sharing the entire first scene it is so fun! It made me fall in love with the heroine instantly!
The Oval Office, huh? hmmm I wonder if the character is in trouble. 😉
Thanks for sharing!
Claire Murray headed for the barn, a burst of cold air lifting her long blonde hair and tossing it into her face. – To Dance with Dolphins by Bonnie Leon

Have you read it? I’m curious what you think of Bonnie Leone’s first contemporary romance. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
I have this one on my Kindle, but haven’t read it yet. 🙂 Great first line!! 😀
It is a great first line and the entire scene just delighted me. She was a fun character to follow through this story. Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

If mysteries are your first love, have you read my review for A Lady In Disguise? You would probably enjoy it and I’m giving away a copy to one lucky reader! 🙂
