Welcome to First Line Friday! Each Friday I pick a book and share the first line with you. In return, I hope you’ll share with me a first line from whatever book you have at hand!
Today I’m sharing the first line from the recently released, All My Tomorrows which includes three novellas written by Karen Witemeyer, Jody Hedlund, and Elizabeth Camden.
Here are the first lines from Karen Witemeyer’s contribution to the collection, Worth the Wait:
OCTOBER 1894 – HARPER’S STATION
BAYLOR COUNTY, TEXAS
“Are you sure it’s safe?” Victoria Adams stared down at her exposed right leg as her friend Grace Mallory fit the Remington Model 95 over-under double-barreled derringer in the small holster affixed to her garter.
Readers will take a journey across America and through time in this collection of three novellas from some of Christian fiction’s top historical romance writers. Originally released only as ebooks, these novellas–deeply moving and deeply romantic–now find print for the first time. The collection includes:
Karen Witemeyer’s “Worth the Wait” takes readers to the Harper’s Station women’s colony where a young mother must overcome pains and fears of the past in order to trust again.
Jody Hedlund’s “An Awakened Heart” follows a young woman into the shadows of New York’s tenements where she and a newly appointed minister spar over the best way to care for the poor and orphaned.
Elizabeth Camden’s “Toward the Sunrise” finds a young female medical student trying to overcome the ramifications of a decision that leave her at the mercy of a stubborn but handsome attorney.
Now it’s your turn to grab the book nearest to you and leave a comment with the first (or your favorite) line!
Then head over to Hoarding Books to see who else is participating:
Sold! I’ve enjoyed all the Harper’s Station stories so far, so I won’t want to miss this one. And Elizabeth Camden is also a must-read for me.
I’m featuring Hurricane Season by Lauren Denton on my blog today, but I’m going to share the first line from the book I’m currently reading. Here’s the first line from A Chance at Forever by Melissa Jagears:
“I wish you luck, George.”
“It’s Aaron now. Don’t forget.” Aaron Firebrook tried not to let Mr. Gray’s slip of the tongue make him even more nervous.
Yay! I’m sure you will enjoy it. I have been enjoying her Harper Station series as well.
A Chance at Forever is on my TBR for this month, but with the conference I am attending I ran out of time. I plan to read it next month, though.
Thank you for sharing!
Sounds great!
Opening the door was the hardest part. Not that she expected to find it locked, because no one out here in this part of Texas ever locked anything. The Countess and the Cowboy by Kathleen Y’Barbo from the Seven Brides for Seven Texas Rangers Romance Collection
Happy Friday and Happy Reading! 🙂
I love the title of that collection! Thank you for sharing!
That book definitely sounds interesting. The book I’m featuring on my blog this week is Love on the Mend by Karen Witemeyer. I love all the books I’ve read of hers. Here, I will share the first line of chapter 17 from the book I’m currently reading, The Social Tutor by Sally Britton. “Thomas waited for her arrival, this time on Christine’s side of the brook, his breath turning to fog in the cold air.” Wishing you a wonderful weekend.
Oh, I love Karen’s books! Sally Britton is a new author to me. How are you enjoying the book?
I want this book!!!
I’m sharing the first two lines from A Most Noble Heir by Susan Anne Mason on my blog today. Here, I will post the first line from the novel I’m currently reading, Beneath the Surface by Lynn H. Blackburn.
“Homicide investigator Ryan Parker flashed a thumbs-up to his dive buddy and fellow homicide investigator, Gabe Chavez.”
Let me tell you, that thumbs-up quickly becomes a thumbs-down!!! This book is really gripping. I can’t figure it out!!! 😄 Happy Friday.
With these authors the purchase is essentially a no-brainer, right? LOL Well, I’m guessing it’s a mystery, so not being able to figure it out would be a good thing. Yes? Thank you for sharing!
Happy Friday! My first line is from Bridgette by Patricia PacJac Carroll:
“Bridgette, get up. The sun and the rest of us have been working for three hours.”
Ha ha. Exchange “Bridgette” for “Kathleen” and that could be my mom. (I am NOT a morning person!)
Thanks for sharing!
The MirrorMasters by Lori Palmer
“Strange things happen in Sea Cliff Heights every single year on this date, June 15th. “
Well… my curiosity is certainly piqued. Thank you for sharing!
I need a copy of this book for my Karen Witemeyer collection 😀
I’m sharing from Mary Connealy’s Now and Forever on my blog today, but here are the first lines of another second in series book with a heroine that loves tending her sheep, Beloved Hope by Tracie Peterson:
Oregon City, Oregon
May 1850
“You can’t be serious.” Hope Flanagan looked at the man who sat opposite her at her sister and brother-in-law’s kitchen table. “You expect me to testify at the Cayuse trial.”
Happy Friday!
Oh boy. That sounds like trouble! 🙂 Thank you for sharing!
