Hi Everyone! It’s First Line Friday, so grab a book near you and share your first line in the comments below!
Today I’m sharing the first lines from Laurel’s Dream by Pepper Basham – part of the My Heart Belongs in ____ series. The ebook version is available now and the paperback is currently set to release January 1st, but you can pre-order your print copy today! My full review of this novel will be up on January 14th!
Here is the first line:
September 1918
“He’s bringing nothin’ but trouble, Caroline McAdams. Make no bones about it.”
Journey into the Blue Ridge Mountains of 1918 where Laurel McAdams endures the challenges of a hard life while dreaming things can eventually improve. But trouble arrives in the form of an outsider. Having failed his British father again, Jonathan Taylor joins is uncle’s missionary endeavors as a teacher in a two-room schoolhouse. Laurel feels compelled to protect the tenderhearted teacher from the harsh realities of Appalachian life, even while his stories of life outside the mountains pull at Laurel’s imagination. Faced with angry parents over teaching methods, Laurel’s father’s drunken rages, and bad news from England, will Jonathan leave and never return, or will he stay and let love bloom?

Happy Friday and Happy New Year!
My first lines come from Home For Christmas by Holly Chamberlin…..
It was the eleventh of December, a crisp winter day with not a cloud in the sky to threaten rain or snow. Nell King shivered as she came down the stairs from the second floor and into the living room.
Have a great weekend and happy reading!😊🎆💕
Thank you for sharing! I hope you have a Happy New Year!
Sorry I’m a bit late coming around this week again! On my blog I featured With This Pledge by Tamera Alexander but I’m currently reading The Teacher’s Bride by Kathleen Fuller so I’ll share that first line here: “I can’t believe she came here without letting us know ahead of time.” Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Thanks for coming by! Hope you have a happy new year!
In the beginning God created heaven, and earth.
I was late to post, but it all worked out. Happy New Year!
Well, you can’t really beat that first line, can you? Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
