Welcome to First Line Fridays! The day we grab the book closest to us and share the first line. Join the fun and discover your next read!
THIS IS THE DAY!!!! In just a few hours, I’ll be unveiling the cover for my debut novel, Waltz in the Wilderness! I am so excited! It has taken me years to get to this point and it is finally here! I finally get to share this precious story with the world! To celebrate, I’m offering a giveaway so be sure to check out my cover reveal post happening TODAY at 1pm PT/4pm ET.
This week I’m sharing the first line from a book I just added to my TBR by new-to-me author, Elaine Manders. It’s called Lacy’s Legacy and I just fell in love with the cover.
Here is the first line:
Montana, 1872
Lacy Avant got as far as the door and something burst in her.
A sweet historical western love story with heart-pounding danger.
Ethan Wilkes plans to go west to start a horse ranch, but he sure isn’t ready for a wife, especially a grieving widow, great with child. But his Aunt Milly, proprietress of the Western Home and Hearts Matrimonial Agency, disagrees. She believes Lacy Avant is perfect for him, and after she explains Lacy’s plight, he heads to Montana Territory.
When he arrives in Buffalo Run to claim his mail-order bride, he finds Lacy fighting a ruthless rancher who’s taken over the town, run off half the farmers, and murdered her husband. Can he win Lacy’s heart while hunting down the killer before he strikes again?
Can Lacy trust Ethan with her life and her heart? And is the land really worth the risk of losing another husband?
The bullets will fly and faith and love will be tested in this fast-paced Christian romance set in untamed Montana Territory, the first in a new multi-author series taken from case files of the eccentric matchmaker who runs the Westward Home and Hearts Matrimonial Agency.

Lacy’s Legacy sure sounds like a great story! I’ll have to look for it!
Thank you! And thanks for stopping by! 🙂
Congratulations on your book!!
I’m sharing the first line from Stitches In Time by Suzanne Woods FIsher on my blog this week. I’m on chapter 4 so I’ll share the first line of that chapter here. “Later in the week, Luke drove by the Bent ‘N Dent one afternoon and slowed the horse.” I hope you have a nice weekend and lots of reading time!
Thank you! 🙂 LOL I had to read that line a couple times. Bent N’ Dent sounds like a modern name so when I read “drove” I was thinking car, but then he slows the horse. So then I was thinking historical until it dawned on me that it must be contemporary Amish. 🙂 Can you tell I don’t read that genre much? Thank you for sharing!
Oh wow, that’s an attention grabbing line! Happy Friday!!
Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to come by later for my big reveal & giveaway! 😀
Will do!
Happy Friday!
Today on my blog, I’m sharing the first line from Always Look Twice by Elizabeth Goddard: https://christianfictiongirl.blog/2019/10/24/first-line-friday-107/. I’m currently on chapter 64, so I’ll share a line from there.
“Harper and Heath stood in the lavish foyer of Trinity History Theater and Museum with hundreds of others.”
Hope you have a great weekend filled with awesome reading time. 🙂❤📖
Thank you for sharing! 🙂
Congratulations on the release of your book! I’m so happy for you!
On my blog, I’m featuring The Elusive Miss Ellison by Carolyn Miller. Here, I will share the first line in Chapter Nine of my current read, It All Started at the Masquerade by Janice Cole Hopkins. Melanie awoke to find Gemona sitting beside her bed watching her.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Thank you! 🙂 Oh my goodness. I don’t think I’d like to find anyone watching me when I wake up except maybe my husband. Thank you for sharing!
Happy Friday! Today I’m sharing the first line from Strands of Truth by Colleen Coble: “Lisa ran to her Datsun Bluebird and jerked open the yellow door.”
https://moments-of-beauty.blogspot.com/2019/10/first-line-fridays-strands-of-truth-by.html
I had to read that twice to figure out it was referring to a car. My first reaction was to picture a mash-up of a dog & a bird. Then I couldn’t figure out how there was a door in such a creature. LOL Thank you for sharing.
Happy Friday! My first line is from “The Wedding Dress Christmas” by Rachel Hauck:
“In the glow of the town’s newly strung Christmas lights, all her fears seemed to fade.”
Thank you for sharing!
What a pretty cover and congratulations on YOUR cover reveal! Have a great weekend!
Thank you! Enjoy your weekend! 😀
Sorry I’m late to visiting this week. On my blog this week I shared the first line from Memories of Glass by Melanie Dobson but I just started reading Coral by Sara Ella so I’ll share the first line from chapter 2 here: “This is not my home.” Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Hey, better late than never! 🙂 So glad you stopped by to share.
