Welcome to First Line Fridays! The day we grab the book closest to us and share the first line. Join the fun and discover your next read!
It seems I am on a Kimberly Rose Johnson roll this month because I am featuring another of her novels this week. This time I am sharing the first line from Edge of Truth, the first book in her Law Enforcement Heroes series. I recently added it to my Kindle and I’m really looking forward to reading it!
Here is the first line:
The hair on Kara Nelson’s neck prickled as she sat behind the wheel of her car parked near the Miami Beach Marina.
Two DEA agents.
One undercover mission.
Lives changed forever.
The DEA sends two of its best agents, Kara Nelson and Jeff Clark, to Central Oregon, to shut down a major drug ring. Kara and Jeff usually work alone, but Operation Trail Ride throws them undercover together in a way neither of them expected.
A notorious Miami drug lord wants Kara dead. Can these agents pull off the greatest acting job of their lives—and manage the sparks flying between them?
Or will they die trying?

Happy Friday! The book I’m featuring on my blog this week is a nonfiction by Ariniko O’Meara, A City Saunter Story. Here’s the first line to Chapter 40: “Whatever you do, don’t walk Baker Street!” I read the message three times. As much as I knew my friend meant well, I felt she wasn’t fully grasping my project.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Well, that is certainly an interesting quote. Thanks for sharing!
gripping first line!
Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
Over on my blog this week, I’m sharing the first line from Jody Hedlund’s newest YA book, Foremost.
Here I’ll share the first line of a book I’m nearly finished reading, Aiming for Love by Mary Connealy.
“Josephine Nordegren floated through the woodland silent as a ghost.”
Ohh! I have this one on my TBR! Thanks for sharing!
This sounds thrilling! Happy Friday!

Happy Friday!
Today on my blog I’m sharing the first line from Christmas in Winter Hill by Melody Carlson. I’m currently reading Freedom’s Kiss by Sarah Monzon. I’m just starting chapter 29, so I’ll share the first line from there.
“Florida, 1832
Winnie felt like a cow being led to slaughter, just waiting her turn to stand before the butcher with a club in his hand.”
Hope you have a great weekend filled with excellent reading time. 🙂❤📖
Well, that’s not a fun moment. 😉 Thanks for sharing! 🙂
That book looks good!
My first line is from chapter 2 of Something Old, Something New by Kathleen Maher in Lessons on Love novella collection by Barbour:
A brisk breeze blew in from the Hudson on Josh’s early morning walk, and he drew in the earthy scents of river and pine.
Mmmm I can smell it now! Thanks for sharing! 🙂
Excellent read!! Happy Weekend! My first line is from “Least Expected” by Autumn Macarthur:
“Maggie Golding ran her fingers through her multi-coloured hair, planted her hands on her hips, and took a step back to examine the latest window display she’d created for Pettett and Mayfields London department store.”
Multi-colored hair, huh? Definitely not a historical, then. 😉 Thanks for sharing! 🙂
Sounds like a good one. Happy Reading!
