Whether you’re looking for a good book or just curious what others are reading, you’ve come to the right place. Each Friday I pick a book and share the first line with you. This week I am sharing the first line from Finding Love at the Oregon Coast: A Romantic Novella Collection by Angela Ruth Strong, Christina Coryell, Heather Woodhaven, and Lisa Phillips.
This collection is a bit unique because in addition to the four novellas, there is a prologue which sets the stage for each of the stories:
When a wedding is cancelled, three bridesmaids and a runaway bride contemplate the true meaning of love in four related romance novellas.
Here’s the first line from the prologue:
Christina gazed out the window at the balcony decorated for her wedding ceremony above the sparkling Columbia River in Portland, Oregon before turning to face the full-length mirror.
I picked up this collection because I saw that Christina Coryell was one of the authors and I really enjoyed her story, Mowed Over, in the Love at First Laugh collection.
Now it’s your turn! Grab the book nearest to you and leave a comment with the first (or your favorite) line!
Then head on over and share your first line with these friends:

That’s one of the main reasons I picked this one up too! I thought it was a good collection.
I’ve got the first line from “Chasing Secrets” by Lynette Eason on the blog today, but I’ve just finished reading “A Rose So Fair” by Myra Johnson, so I’m going to share the first line from that here:
“Now just you hold it right there, mister.” Rose Linwood sighted her unwelcome visitor down the length of Grandpa’s trusty Winchester.
She’s a spunky one!
Happy Friday! I love novellas that are about weddings! This cover is so cute! I need to read this one. Thanks for sharing!
I’m featuring “Healing Love” by Jennifer Slattery on my blog today, but I’m currently reading “A Name Unknown” by Roseanna M. White.
London
May 1914
Rosemary Gresham may have been a thief, but she was a thief who preferred to work in broad daylight.
Such a fun collection!
Happy Friday! My first line is from An Alaskan Christmas by Belle Calhoune: “Finn O’Rourke paced back and forth in terminal 27A of the Anchorage airport.”
Happy Friday! Since I’ll be finishing Pepper Basham’s The Thorn Healer before lunch, I’m sharing the first line from my current Chapter 22: “I hate leaving you like this.” Catherine stilled her movements from packing her trunk, her coral walking suit an elegant fit on her delicate frame. “Not when David and Alexander could help tend the sickness.”
Happy Friday!
Looks like an interesting book. I haven’t read any of these authors.
Happy Friday!
My first line is:
“23 July 1955
There was going to be a funeral.” ~ Magpie Murders by Anthony Horowitz
Happy Reading!

I picked up this book because Angela Ruth Strong was one of the author’s. 🙂 Can’t wait to actually read it.
The cover is gorgeous. Another book I will have to check out.
My first line comes from Hold the Light by April McGowan.
“Unremarkable. Amber glanced out the steaming windowpane at the cityscape below her.”
I guess it was really Christina’s day in FLF land! I shared her new release (also because I LOVED Mowed Over!!!) 😀
