Fact #8

Did you know that (contrary to what the popular western movies portray) not all stages on the Overland Mail Route were Concord coaches? Many were what were known as celerity wagons or mud wagons (two different types of wagons). The type of wagon used differed at each point along the trail according to the terrain the stage needed to traverse. In Sing in the Sunlight, a celerity wagon (the kind with fold down seats that converted into beds and leather flaps that covered the windows) is ridden to San Diego by two of my characters.
